About
I’m an Edinburgh-based Creative Producer who specialises in history content across animation, audio, and digital media. I create original concepts, write scripts, and produce and direct work for clients in education, entertainment, and heritage.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by our past. I studied History at the University of York and wrote my dissertation on early 19th century Madagascar. I then lived in Madagascar for two years, taught English and setup a short film making course, an experience which gave me new perspectives on colonialism and development.
When I came home, I started writing and directing animations, video and audio, which I’ve done for over a decade now. My favourite projects include a series of irreverent animations about the ancient world narrated by David Tennant, and an interactive audio documentary exploring the mysterious murder of Christopher Marlowe. Recently, I launched You Are History, an original podcast blending documentary, drama, and gamification that immerses listeners in historical lives.
History aside, I enjoy transforming complex topics into engaging content, whether that’s documentaries about PTSD or animations about renewable energy. I’ve been fortunate to work with organisations like the BBC, the UN, Audible, ITN, the University of Edinburgh, and many others, making content that is both entertaining and educational.
So, whatever the subject, if you have a project that needs writing, producing, or directing, I’d love to hear from you at lauriejayharris@gmail.com.
